Nonverbal

I’ve been searching for my three elusive friends, Inspiration, Motivation, and Enthusiasm. I’m not always sure how to reach them, but one day they unexpectedly appeared at my door. I was overjoyed to welcome them into my home. When they visit, I am completely under their spell and I love it. They inspire me to create beautiful work, but sometimes they keep me from sleeping by entering my dreams. When they’re with me, I can’t be bothered with chores or small talk. I can only immerse myself in creativity.

I wrote the above prose last week while getting ready for two creative gatherings back-to-back. It was the first time I held two creative circles in one weekend. The women on both days were excited and motivated for the creative process. On Saturday, six women joined to make a Spirit~Quest Collage, a big 20″x30″ intuitive collage representing the journey into the coming year. This collage contained powerful words and images. On Sunday morning, six different women came for SoulCollage, a smaller 6″x8″ collage representing different parts of the personality using only images and no words. The group energy on both days was very interesting. The main difference was the use of words, the absence of words in the collages, and the way the responses were given. On Saturday, the women presented their creations and received verbal responses. On Sunday, the responses were given through body movements with no words. I found it so interesting how powerfully a nonverbal response conveys a feeling that can be felt by everyone in the circle

The daffodil bulbs I planted on New Year’s Day are beginning to sprout, signifying the halfway point between Winter Solstice and Vernal Equinox. Hope you find a simple way to acknowledge and celebrate Imbolc.
