Lakshmi

“Dress in layers and bring a flashlight and a blanket…” We should always have these few things in a bag in our cars for any reason, but it is always the suggested list on the invitations to attend the monthly Full Moon Ceremony.

We weren’t able to take a chance at meeting at the Enchanted Forest last night because of the predicted storms, so we met instead at the magical studio of Tamara Trejo.

The front porch was lit festively with an inviting little white tree topped with a star and the building was adorned with strands of deep blue garland lights that ran the entire circumference of the roof line – someone has been hard at work! Beautiful!

I showed up a little late, and as I reached the group gathered in the back area, they were all dancing and shaking to a rock and roll song requested by one of the November birthday babies; this night had energy!

The ceremony took place the main room of the studio, and as we all got comfortably seated, Tammy led us in our circle speak. We were honoring Lakshmi – the Goddess of Abundant Prosperity. Lakshmi loves bright, and shiny things; she is the perfect Goddess for this season as the nights begin so early and go so long and can be so dark! So to help get the attention of this Goddess you are to adorn your homes, your windows and your bodies with flash and bling! Who doesn’t like that?!

Every ceremony is unique – last night we listened to our lovely Meta play a solo piece on her flute which brought the energy into a quiet calm, readying us to go deep within and to ponder ourselves and our lives.

We then gave our attention to Amy, our Dragon Crone, who led us in a call and response, calling in Lakshmi; the room was filled with our singing voices. We then turned inward for a brief meditation giving us the time to consider the night’s question, “When does the world witness your brilliance?”

This is when I realized how sweet the night truly was and how this thought provoking exercise serves: I realized during my meditation that, it’s the physical elements that we set out to catch her eye; Lakshmi will then come in closer to see one’s brilliance if you put it out for her to see! What really happens is that she turns the light back on you! The abundant prosperity resides within us all! Lakshmi is a vehicle for us to see what we already have inside. The Circle speak was so beautiful because we all got to share our own brilliance with each other, uninhibited, and supported and learned things about ourselves in the meantime.

Lisa Forward shared a beautiful song that was written by a dear friend who has passed from this world – we all sang and honored Sass and will sing her song again and next time perhaps with the accompaniment of Meta, the Flutist!

Just in time, Mother Moon peeked out from behind the clouds so our ululations blended with the light of the November full moon accompanied by Jupiter shining brilliantly just above. Brilliance was our theme — celebrating Lakshmi, Goddess of Abundant Prosperity. We shared our individual and unique brilliance — shedding our usual humility and putting on our cosmic BLING!

And then we went out and bought lottery tickets (literally or figuratively)! Bring on the gold and riches! (To anyone who wins — I dearly treasure our relationship and wish you good luck in winning tonight’s fortune. You know you have always been my favorite (although I’ve been careful not to show it) and I sincerely hope you win. Perhaps these tidings of good luck and fortune may swing the odds in your favor. I’ll be thinking of you tonite. If you win, please share the great news with me ASAP. Sending along a virtual hug with this message! Love, Chris

Many blessings and best wishes to our November birthday mothers. May this be the best year of your lives — the potential is here and within your reach. Shine your light … and DANCE!

Abundant blessings and love, Chris

  1. What a rich and lovely night; full of the energy and ‘bling’ of amazing women and their vibrant power! Thank you all for singing Sas’ song ….Sister, Sweet Sister….she would love to know that she has a circle of Sisters in Half Moon Bay singing her song and carrying forth the energy and love with which she wrote it. The Circle grows….

  2. One of my favorite parts of the mystical moon evening was when that wonderful, sweet woman came round and said a beautiful, thoughtfull word to each of us and spread rose petals at our feet. Thank you, I loved it. I am still getting to know all your names. xoxodina

  3. Dina, I am so glad you have joined our circle. Stephanie is the woman who tossed the welcome rose petals. XOTT
