Balance
Maat, Goddess of justice and balance, hails from the Egyptian pantheon. According to mythology she is the gate-keeper who appears at the end ones life. With an ostrich feather in her hair she stands sturdy and forthright holding a scale to weigh your heart. If your heart is heavier than the feather you must reincarnate as human to learn the lesson of a balanced life. It’s an injustice to walk through your life with a heavy heart.
On this mid spring full moon we dedicated our ceremony to Maat. Our rituals were centered around letting go of anything that weighted heavy on our heart and the embodiment of balance. In keeping with our traditional Maat rituals we weighted our hearts, burned our burdens, held our loves close you our heart and danced the Celtic weave. Most enlightening was the gifts shared in circle speak.
We communed by the fire, a clay chalice filled with wine was passed as our talking stick. Each women shared her antidote to a heavy heart. Hilarious stories and jokes, melodic chants, profound words of wisdom and tangible works of art, were shared. The gentle power of this elusive tribe nourished our Goddess particles, brought light to darkness and fortified our feminine circle.
As the natural world surges with new life and activity so do we Moon Mothers.
